Water leak concerns?

Signs you may have a hidden water leak

Hidden leaks waste water, raise utility bills and feed mold and mildew. The sooner the source is found, the less damage it does.

  • A sudden spike in your water billThe most common sign of a hidden leak under a slab or underground.
  • The meter moves with everything offIf the meter dial turns while no water is in use, water is escaping somewhere.
  • Sound of running waterHissing or trickling in walls or floors when nothing is running.
  • Warm spots on the floorA warm area of tile or concrete can point to a hot-water slab leak.
  • Damp drywall, stains or moldBubbling paint, ceiling stains, musty smells or new mold growth.
  • Pool losing waterNeeding to top off the pool or spa more than evaporation explains.
  • Soggy or extra-green yardA wet patch or unusually lush grass along a water line.
  • Cracks in walls or flooringNew cracks or shifting can follow long-running leaks under a home.
  • Low water pressureA drop in pressure can mean water is leaving the line before it reaches you.

FAQ

Water leak questions & answers

Straight answers to the questions property owners ask us most.

Can you find a water leak under a pool?

Absolutely. We can pinpoint the source of a leak under a swimming pool or spa without digging up or damaging your pool, decking or landscaping.

What about a water leak under a house slab?

Our equipment can locate a leak even when it is under the concrete slab of your home. It may be in the middle of your living room, but we can find it without causing damage.

I suddenly have an unusually high water bill. Do I have a leak?

A sudden spike in your water bill is usually a sign of a hidden leak, often under the slab or in an underground line. Turn off every fixture and check whether your water meter is still moving. If it is, call us so we can locate the source before it causes more damage and wastes more water.

How do you find a leak behind a wall without opening it up?

We use non-invasive methods to locate the leak from outside the wall. Depending on the situation, that can include acoustic listening equipment that hears water escaping a pressurized line, thermal imaging that shows temperature changes caused by moisture, moisture meters, line tracing to map where pipes run, and pressure testing to isolate which line is losing water. The goal is to open only the small area your plumber needs to make the repair.

Can you find a water leak inside a business?

Yes. We locate leaks in offices, retail stores, restaurants, apartment communities, warehouses and industrial plants. Our methods are non-destructive and keep disruption to your operations to a minimum.

Do you drill holes to find a water leak?

In rare situations we need to drill small holes. They are filled afterward, and we work carefully not to damage your property. Most of the time, our equipment pinpoints the leak without any drilling.

How long does leak detection take?

We offer same-day service in most cases, and the process is often finished in just a few hours. Large properties or complex situations can take more or less time.

Do you repair the leak too?

Leak Seekers specializes in leak detection only. We pinpoint and mark the leak location and explain what we found, so your plumber, pool company or contractor can make a quick, targeted repair.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. We know an emergency water leak usually isn't in the budget, so we accept credit cards to make the process as easy as possible.

What areas do you serve?

We have local teams in St. Augustine, Florida (Northeast Florida including Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach, Palm Coast and Amelia Island), Savannah, Georgia (including Pooler, Richmond Hill, Bluffton and Hilton Head Island) and Charleston, South Carolina (including Summerville, Beaufort, Orangeburg and Myrtle Beach).
