Short answer: If your pool or spa is losing more water than evaporation explains, it likely has a leak in the shell, a fitting or the underground plumbing. Leak Seekers pinpoints pool leaks without digging up your pool, decking or landscaping.
Signs your pool may be leaking
- You're adding water more often than usual
- Wet or soggy areas in the yard near the pool or equipment
- Cracks in the pool shell or deck, or loose tiles
- Air or dirt being blown back into the pool
- A higher water bill during pool season
A quick check you can do: the bucket test
Place a bucket of pool water on a pool step so the water levels inside and outside the bucket match, and mark both. After 24 hours with the pump on its normal schedule, compare. If the pool dropped noticeably more than the bucket, you likely have a leak and it's time to call us.
How we find pool and spa leaks
We check the pool shell, lights, skimmers, returns and fittings, then test and locate leaks in the underground plumbing that runs from the equipment pad to the pool. Depending on the situation, that can include acoustic listening equipment that hears water escaping a pressurized line, thermal imaging that shows temperature changes caused by moisture, moisture meters, line tracing to map where pipes run, and pressure testing to isolate which line is losing water.
We mark the location so your pool company can make a targeted repair.
